취향 -informal한 단어임

I'm not so picky about the quality of smartphone photos.

He is a picky eater. 식성이 까다롭다.

He was especially nit-picky about the balcony size. *쓸데없이 (사소한걸 너무 많이) 따지거나 그런 사람

He's so fussy[뻐씨] about food. 비슷하다고 생각하고 넘어가도 될 것을 매우 다르다고 생각하고 따진다..이런 너낌

He was fussing with his clothes.

까다롭지 않다 - 취향

I'm not hard to please.

They have very simple taste. 취향, 기호

 

2.

조건, 절차

The club has a strict dress code.

The manager applies very strict guidelines./rule.

The procedure to get the permit was so bureaucratic. (bureaucracy에서 나온 - 관공서에서 제시하는 복잡한 절차/규정)

The red tape will scare off investers. *붉은색 테이프 - 비유적 표현 - 관공서에서 문서 묶을 때 빨간색 테이프를 씀 

*빨간색 테잎이 투자자들을 겁줘서 쫓아냈다 - 관공서의 복잡한 절차 때문에 투자자들이 매력을 잃게되었다. 

cut the red tape. 불필요한 절차나 까다로움을 없앤다. 

 

 

#교착상태 : 일의 진전이 없고 꽉 막혀있는 상태를 표현할 때

교착 : standstill

Negotiations are at a standhill.

Traffic was at a standstill.

Traffic stopped and the industry was brought to a standhill.

(어떤한 이유로)교통망이 작동을 안하게 되어서 산업이 사실상 정지상태가 되었다.

 

교착 : standoff

The political standoff led to a delay in passing the bill. 대결/교착 상태

Protesters and the police ended their standoff. 대치 

 

교착 : deadlock

Negotiations have reached a deadlock. 협상이 난항을 겪고 있다.

They met again to break the deadlock between the White House and Congress.

 

교착 : gridlock 격자무늬 - 특히 교통정체. 사거리에서 차가 가득차서 꼼짝달싹 못하는 상태 느낌.

There's gridlock in midtown. 

There's gridlock in Congress. 

 

교착 : stalemate

The couple is at a stalemate in their divorce. 이혼소송에 별다른 진전이 없다.

The negotiations are at a stalemate.

The Korean war ended in a stalemate. Nether side won.

고민할 문제다 (사회적 이슈)
